US Money Reserve Review: Is It the Best Company for You?

By Tim Schmidt

Have you spent any length of time looking for reliable investments for your retirement accounts? If so, you know that gold, silver, and other precious metals hold intrinsic value. Many times, these items will protect your IRA against unforeseen economic crises and inflation.

During the 2008 economic collapse and the COVID-19 pandemic, most investment options depreciated in value. However, precious metals didn't, and their prices actually went higher.

Are you interested in a precious metals IRA? I suggest choosing a dependable brand. Is US Money Reserve a good company? It definitely caught my attention.

Initially, I saw it had various investment options, storage facilities, and over 20 years of experience. Therefore, it seemed like a solid choice for investors. Still, I wanted to take a closer look at the company. Here is my US Money Reserve review:

US Money Reserve Review

A Brief Overview of US Money Reserve

Overall, US Money Reserve is an experienced company in the precious metals industry. It launched its website in 2001, and it has served more than 785,000 customers worldwide since then.

That history and the positive U.S. Money Reserve reviews show how trustworthy this company is. Many investors, including myself, look for reliability like that.

Customer Complaints and Positive Reviews

In the table below, I've compiled the information you need from various review websites, such as Google, Trustpilot, Consumer Affairs, and the Better Business Bureau (BBB). While there are some U.S. Money Reserve complaints, you'll see many more positive remarks.

How Does US Money Reserve Stand Apart From the Others?

Generally, my initial impression of US Money Reserve was quite positive, but that isn't enough to recommend the company to investors. Therefore, I chose to dig deeper into the services offered to consumers, which helped me analyze how it stacks up against other brands I've reviewed. Check out what I found:

Comprehensive Precious Metals IRAs

For many investors, a precious metals IRA is the most important service offered at US Money Reserve. This company has a secure and reliable silver/gold individual retirement account with everything you would expect.

Here are a few notable features of the IRA service at US Money Reserve:

  • A silver bonus (up to $18,500)
  • A competitive buyback program
  • A zero-fee discount for the first year if the rollover account has over $25,000 (or if you set up a new one above $6,000)

In my experience, the process of setting up a precious metals IRA with this company is effortless. One of the biggest reasons for that is because you have Account Executives working with you at each stage.

Various Purchasing Options for Precious Metals

While there are many advantages of a gold IRA, you may prefer to own precious metals outright. US Money Reserve has you covered.

Buying gold and silver coins and bars is easy through the online shop. Plus, they're delivered to your house within five to 10 business days.

A list of gold and silver products available for purchase at US Money Reserve

Everyone has their preferred products, but I thought these stood out from the US Money Reserve catalog:

  • Gold American Buffalo coins
  • Pearl Harbor silver coins
  • Silver American Eagle coins

If you prefer to purchase bars, US Money Reserve offers gold and silver options that range from 2.2 pounds to 1 ounce. Likewise, everything in the shop is available at competitive prices, which boosts the brand's credibility.

Secure Storage

Most investors worry about the safety of their investment when choosing a precious metals IRA company. How does US Money Reserve do in that regard?

According to my extensive research, US Money Reserve uses A-M Global Logistics (AMGL) as its depository. This is a well-established entity in the industry and has 50 years of experience. Therefore, it will protect your investment with ease.

Excellent Buyback Program

In my opinion, a precious metals store that doesn't provide a buyback or liquidity program isn't worth my time. Luckily, that's not the case with US Money Reserve.

The company will liquidate all of the precious metals it sells to customers. Plus, you can return certified coins purchased within 30 days to get a full refund (minus shipping and insurance costs).

Educational Tools and Content

As someone who has spent many years analyzing gold IRA and precious metal trading services, I can easily determine if available offers are valid. However, would someone without extensive knowledge of the industry know how to start or what to do?

Those customers will like the educational program at US Money Reserve because it includes written articles, videos, and much more.

The video and gold info kit information available at US Money Reserve

Personally, my favorite educational content feature was the diversification quiz. It asks questions about your future plans, current investments, and worries about a recession. Once you finish it, you'll receive a Gold Information Kit (as an email) to help you make better decisions.

Exceptional Customer Service

Though I didn't run into issues when visiting the US Money Reserve website, I did call the customer service line to test the quality. The response times were quicker than I expected, and the representative answered my questions thoroughly.

Similarly, I had a great experience on the company's social media platforms, including X (formerly known as Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram.

Information About U.S. Money Reserve Fees

When searching for a gold IRA company, you want one that is transparent with its fees. Unfortunately, US Money Reserve isn't the best here.

According to the company's website, fees could vary based on which precious metals you choose and the size of your account. However, it does appear that the annual price for maintenance is about $250.

Luckily, the company will waive the first-year fees if you have a minimum transfer or rollover of $25,000. Plus, the discount applies when opening an account with $6,000 or more.

How to Invest With US Money Reserve

After analyzing the services offered by US Money Reserve, I learned that there are two ways of investing with the brand:

Home Delivery

Primarily, the company wants you to buy physical metals to store at home or in another secure location, such as a bank. Here are the steps to do so:

  1. Visit the online shop at USMR, and choose which metals you wish to buy.
  2. Check on the price, and click the "Add to Cart" button. Select the amount you prefer.
  3. Next, you'll click on the "Begin Checkout" button to complete the process.
  4. You'll have to create an account or continue as a guest with your email address.
  5. Finally, provide the shipping information (address), determine how you'll pay, and complete the online purchase.

Once you place an order, it will be delivered within five to 10 days. I recommend having a secure storage place available before the precious metals arrive.

Precious Metals IRAs

The second way to invest with US Money Reserve is by opening a precious metals IRA. You'll have a dedicated Account Executive to help you navigate the process and can contact the company by:

  • Visiting the IRA web portal and clicking "Get Started"
  • Calling US Money Reserve at 1-888-969-2257

Ultimately, I've used both methods, and they work equally well.

Is US Money Reserve Legit?

Is US Money Reserve legitimate? Many people ask me, and I believe it is. This is a reliable company for IRA investments and precious metal purchases. In fact, I don't have many concerns because the customer service is excellent, there aren't any funds-related issues, and you can find plenty of positive reviews online.

Another reason I trust US Money Reserve is because its team effectively and efficiently manages customer complaints. On the Better Business Bureau, I noticed only six major issues, and they were all replied to within a few days.
